We are transforming our business to enable us to deliver world class customer experiences through the implementation of our Mitre 10 strategy, transformation programme and other key business initiatives and are therefore looking for a passionate Assistant Category Manager to join us permanently at our Albany based Support Centre.
Within Mitre 10 the role of the Assistant Category Manager is to support the Category Manager to successfully deliver on their strategies and plans, whilst developing the skills necessary to become a Category Manager within the organisation. In conjunction with this, the Assistant Category Manager plays a critical role in continually improving the range, promotional offer and supplier relationships within the Mitre 10 business.
This role does give you the opportunity to take some product ownership within the category, and while you will begin your time with Mitre 10 in one category, you may move between categories to grow your knowledge and experience.
For this position we seek someone with good relationship building skills, experience in MS Excel, commercial acumen, and the ability to drill down into issues to come up with possible solutions that will help the product ranges to continue to grow and thrive.
In addition, we are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in a similar role;
- The ability to understand the financial and business drivers behind category management;
- Confidence in dealing with suppliers, conducting range reviews and presenting recommendations in a convincing and intuitive manner;
- Knowledge and passion for the retail industry, and a strong team player who is adaptable to change;
- Flare for promotion, being able to drive inspiration and solution selling;
- Communication confidence, with the potential to instill trust and confidence; and
- A general knowledge of the building industry or building materials would be helpful
- The high EQ, self-awareness, personal resilience and sense of humour required to thrive driving considerable change.
